On The Avenue: The Boys Go Relief Printing

This week On The Avenue our resident designer, Brenden, took one of our Woodard guys, Alexander, over to Good Wood Printing to teach him the ins and outs of relief printing. They met up with some of Brenden’s old teachers and the owners of the shop, and the group set out to make 200 copies of a poster Brenden designed for the Salvation Army’s Rock The Red Kettle event this October.

Brenden demonstrated how to use a photopolymer plate to make a relief print (just a fancy way of saying they used a special screen to make the prints) then let Alexander give it a whirl. After a few go arounds Alexander was looking like a seasoned pro. The whole crew hung out, listened to some good tunes, and got their hands dirty cranking out some prints. In the end there were 200 awesome, hand made Rock The Red Kettle concert posters to be sold the day of the event.

v good

So now Alexander has been trained in the ways of photography AND screen printing by two skillful masters. Will he soon over take the very men that taught him everything he knows?? Check back On The Avenue every week to find out.

Have a blessed day and see you next week!
