Update on Local Social Events for Adults with Disabilities
Covid-19 has turned the world upside down, so it’s no surprise that many of the programs and events that serve adults with disabilities have been impacted. This week on the blog, we’ve gathered information about local social events in the Nashville area for adults with autism and other disabilities. We’ve done our best to get accurate and up-to-date information, but please reach out to the organization to confirm events before attending.
Autism TN is a nonprofit organization that specializes in education, community, and advocacy services for people on the autism spectrum. The organization has three social programs for teens and adults with autism, and all three have transitioned to virtual meetings due to Covid-19. For more information about these programs or to register to attend virtually, visit https://autismtennessee.wildapricot.org/growing.
- The Thrive Teen Transitions group helps participants understand society’s unwritten social rules through discussion with an adult facilitator who is also on the autism spectrum.
- CONNECT is a monthly social group that provides a safe environment for adults with autism to connect and practice interacting with others under the supervision of a trained professional.
- Social Club is a time of fun and boards games where adults with autism can practice social skills and make friends.
