On The Avenue: Super Bowl 2018
This week On The Avenue, we’ve got the Super Bowl on our minds. With the Titans winning the AFC Wild Card Playoff Game against the Kansas City Chiefs last weekend, and moving on to play the New England Patriots in the AFC divisional round this weekend, there is a small (however tiny) glimmer of hope that our beloved Titans will see a Super Bowl for the first time in 19 years. But, while football is all fine and well, we all know that half the fun of the Super Bowl is watching the commercials that some of America’s biggest brands pay the big bucks to have aired during the prime time television spot.
As some of you may know, Westwood’s founder, Tom Woodard, was the voice of Bud the Frog in the legendary Budweiser Frogs Super Bowl Commercial that first aired in 1995. The Frogs turned into to one of the most successful ad campaigns in history, with eagerly awaited installments airing each year during the big game.
This year, the Budweiser frogs are being celebrated as one of the TOP TEN commercials in Super Bowl history on CBS’s “Super Bowl Greatest Commercials”. The Frogs lived a full life, hanging out on their lily pads, becoming world wide celebrities, and dealing with those dastardly lizards. Congratulations to them and Tom for the exciting news! Take a peep at the commercial that began it all below, and don’t forget to tune in on Tuesday, January 21 to see it on air!
P.S. Be careful out there today! In classic Nashville style, we may not get to play in the snow, but we do get to watch out for the ice.
Thanks for reading and I’ll See you Next week On The Avenue.
