On The Avenue: The Children’s Cup
Last night On The Avenue, we golfed for good. Woodard Brothers was happy to support Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt and participate in The Children’s Cup hosted by Topgolf Nashville. The funds raised to enter the tournament benefited pediatric cancer research for the hospital.
Our little team of six was comprised of Tom and me, some of Tom’s oldest friends, Robert and Barbie, my better half, Austin, and Channel 4’s Kelly Sutton. The good news is that everyone on our team was MUCH better at golf than me, so we ended the night with a pretty solid score. We even got a guest chip by none other than Lady Antebellum’s Charles Kelly.
He and Jake Owen were the special guests of the evening, and ended the event on a high note with a concert after the winners were announced (we were robbed, I assure you).
We had an absolute blast botching our golf swings and eating some good food, but the highlight of our evening was being able to meet some of the brave, young cancer survivors who attended the event. Their joy was an awesome reminder of why we were there and what an amazing place Vanderbilt’s Children’s hospital is. As a non-profit, the hospital depends on the generosity and donations of those in our community, and then they go on to do awesome things, like treating a child with cancer and charging their family absolutely nothing for it.
We were proud to support the hospital last night, and we just want to say thank you to them for being the inspiring organization they are, to Topgolf Nashville for hosting an amazing event, and to our friends for making the night one to remember.
Thanks for visiting us here On The Avenue, and don’t forget to check back next week!
