On The Avenue: Temple Grandin

Today On The Avenue we want to introduce you to Temple Grandin. Temple is a professor of animal science, speaker, and author living with Autism. Both in her book, “The Autistic Brain: Thinking Across the Spectrum,” and in her Ted Talk which is featured below, Temple speaks on how autism has affected her life as she’s grown into one of the most well recognized champions for those on the spectrum.

In her lecture below, Temple tells us how her unique way of thinking has been a gift in her life, allowing her to problem solve in a way that is very affective for her and for those that she works with. This window into her mind and her experiences helps shed some light on the benefits of different kinds of minds working together.  Those who are on the autism spectrum tend to be visual thinkers, pattern thinkers or verbal thinkers, and that type of thinking can be invaluable to employers and society at large.

Watch below to learn more about Temple, and her plans to develop and encourage young minds.
